latest work – branding
Dan William and Jess Morris are well known faces on the London and Brighton antiques scene. They approached Aimée Creative to help them launch the Brighton Vintage and Antique Market (BVAM), at the recently refurbished Open Market near London Road.
After initial discussions a simple ‘shop sign’ type logo was designed using an array of historic feel typefaces. The ‘shop sign’ design could easily be transcribed into making a real life market sign/sandwich boards for the event, at a later date. The design also allowed for prominent advertising on the logo to reiterate that the market would be on the ’1st Sunday’ and a ‘monthly flea market’. A vintage photo of the Open Market was also sourced. This was chosen to draw attention to the location of BVAM and to give it a historic feel that would be in keeping with the brand. A berry red colour was picked for the winter launch. Other colours were chosen as alternative logo colours to tie in with the four seasons. This would help ensure that seasonal posters and flyers would look different from the previous designs and to grab attention with each new issue, whilst still staying identifiable as the BVAM brand.
As the market was new, photography from the event was not yet available. A simple black and white line drawing illustration was therefore created to demonstrate the array of items that one might typically find at the market. The illustration was designed with a deliberate white space zone above it that could be used to advertise the dates of each up and coming event – this could be used to create Facebook graphics for page post or could be used for online listings and editorial coverage. After supplying an initial cover image for the launch of the event a template was provided to promote the ‘Next Market’ date on Facebook.
