Ellie Y Make Up specilaises in make up for film and TV, fashion and editorial and also bridal/glamour make up. Ellie approached Aimée Creative wanting an easy to update website to showcase her growing portfolio. Ellie was also in need of a new logo and wanted one that was the right balance of looking professional whilst still staying friendly.
Ellie loves fashion and beauty and has her own unique look and style. She wanted her new logo to reflect this and convey her bubbly personality.
The first wave of logo concepts included some very linear /asymmetric / typefaces together with some more alternative street styles, including one design featuring a star that matched one of Ellie’s tattoos. Eventually it was decided to go for a friendly cursive font, with a slight 50′s feel to it. Extra emphasis was given to the ‘Y’ in ‘Ellie Y Make up’ and its larger height used to pull together all of the constituent elements of the logo together.
Ellie was keen to have a black and white website to let her work do the talking and she wanted a complimentary logo. To match her signature pink /mauve hair, a dusky mauve colour was selected to work as an accent colour. This also provided an easy to find flash of her signature colour as a concept for her new business cards. The business cards also feature one of Ellie’s drawings.
A logo with ‘.com’ added was created to provide Ellie with badges/stickers that could be added to photos from her portfolio to produce promotional postcards at a later date. These could also be used for other promotional print and online promotional work.
